General Farm Hand – Livestock & Hill Country Operations

Mangaohutu Station is a well-established 1,700-hectare hill-country farming operation located in the Central North Island. The property forms part of a family-owned network of five farms that operate to high production, animal welfare, and land management standards. We pride ourselves on strong teamwork, clear communication, and a supportive working environment. This role works closely with the Farm Manager and plays an important part in achieving day-to-day and long-term farm goals.

The Role – What You’ll Be Doing

We are seeking a capable and motivated General Farm Hand to join our team. The role offers a balanced mix of responsibilities, with approximately 50% of time spent on general farm maintenance and 50% on livestock work. Duties include fencing, repairs, and machinery maintenance, alongside hands-on stock work such as mustering, stock movements, feeding, and assisting with animal health tasks.

Skills, Experience & Attributes We’re Looking For

• Valid New Zealand visa and full driver licence

• Previous experience with livestock and working dogs

• Confidence operating farm machinery, including tractors and ATVs

• Practical fencing and general maintenance skills

• Physically fit, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in hill country

• A positive attitude and genuine interest in developing farming skills

Location: Mangaohutu Station, 45 km southwest of Taumarunui

Employment Type: Full-time (40–50 hours per week, seasonal variation)

Reports To: Farm Owner / Manager
